Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about CodePrints "” generating, customizing, and downloading QR codes.
Yes, 100% free. You can generate unlimited QR codes and download them as PNG or SVG with no charges, no watermarks, and no sign-up required.
No account is needed to use the QR generator. You only need to register if you want API access and an API key.
Standard QR codes (URL, text, WiFi, etc.) never expire "” they work forever because the data is stored inside the QR code itself, not on our servers.
Yes. All QR codes generated on CodePrints are free for both personal and commercial use "” menus, business cards, marketing materials, product packaging and more.
We support 9 types: URL, Text, WiFi, Email, Phone, SMS, WhatsApp, vCard (digital business card), and Image QR codes.
The WiFi QR code encodes your network name (SSID), password and security type. When someone scans it with their phone, they are prompted to join the network automatically "” no typing required.
A vCard QR code is a digital business card. It encodes your name, organization, phone, email, website and address. Scanning it lets anyone save your contact details directly to their phone contacts.
You upload a photo (JPG, PNG, GIF or WebP up to 5MB). We store it on our server and encode a short URL in the QR code. When scanned, the image opens full-screen in the browser "” no text or URL visible.
Yes. You can choose any foreground color (the QR modules) and any background color using the color picker or the one-click color swatches on the generator page.
You can choose from S (200px), M (300px), L (500px) and XL (800px). For print use, download the SVG format which is infinitely scalable with no quality loss.
The quiet zone is the white space around the QR code. QR code scanners need some padding to detect the code edges. We recommend at least margin 1; higher values add more white space.
PNG is a raster image "” best for websites, social media, and screen display at a fixed size. SVG is a vector format "” infinitely scalable without any quality loss, ideal for printing on business cards, banners or merchandise.
Fill in your QR type details and customize as needed. Click "Download PNG" or "Download SVG" "” the file downloads immediately to your device. No sign-up needed.
For print, download the SVG file "” it is vector-based and prints at any size without pixelation. If you need PNG, choose XL (800px) for high-resolution output.
Yes! We provide a free REST API. Register for a free account to get your API key, then use the X-API-Key header to generate QR codes programmatically. See the full documentation at /docs.
Free API keys are limited to 60 requests per minute. This is more than enough for most use cases. If you need higher limits, contact us.
The API returns JSON with a base64-encoded image (PNG or SVG), the payload string, QR type, size, MIME type, and generation timestamp. See the API docs for the full schema.
We store basic generation history (type, timestamp, size) for analytics but never the actual content of your QR code. Image uploads are stored temporarily for the Image QR type.
Never. We do not sell, share, or monetize any user data. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
